About Me

I’m a fourth generation Japanese American from Hawaii. After graduating college in 2021, I moved to Tokyo and started making content. At first I tried different things like Japanese language videos on Instagram, then travel tips, then vlogs. Over time I realized what I enjoy most is showing Japan’s low key spots through trains and everyday travel and now make videos about them on my Youtube channel.

I’ve also done editing work for Japan based creators with channels ranging from around 400,000 to 800,000 subscribers on YouTube. [Click here to see my portfolio.]

Why I Started This Channel

I wanted to make Japan-themed content that feels different from what you usually see on social media, especially short form content. Many of those videos felt repetitive for me, often showing the same well-known places with similar styles like background music, voiceovers, and quick cuts. After watching so many of those, I started to feel that Japan has much more to offer beyond the busy areas everyone already knows.

Even before I started filming, I liked finding random spots away from big crowds. I’d take a train to somewhere quiet and just walk around to see what I could find. I also get nervous and a bit anxious when I have to deal with big crowds, so I naturally enjoy going to calmer, normal-looking places that aren’t overstimulating.

I started this channel in October 2024 to make videos about the things I like to do. One of the early videos, where I visited a train station that only Toshiba employees can leave, reached around 100,000 views when I only had 600 subscribers. That’s when I realized there are people who are actually interested in these kinds of things.

Now I make long form Japan-themed videos traveling mainly by train to low key, lesser known spots across the country. Through my videos, I want to show that Japan is more than its crowded tourist areas and offer places that you may want to check out or that inspire you to explore somewhere new.
